Research for Coca-Cola Zero

In this assignment my group (The Happy Company) have been asked by Coca Cola to make an advert for one of their 3 drinks, Coca-Cola, Diet Coca-Cola or Coca-Cola Zero.
In the end the group decided on doing an advert for Coca-Cola Zero.

As seen in the moodboard (right) Coca-Cola Zero has a strict cola scheme of black, red and white. Black being the most dominant colour, Red and white being another signature colour of the original Coca-Cola and the Coca-Cola company.

Launch of Coca-Cola Zero in 2006
I watched a series of adverts and  made a mind map of what I found out. I noticed a clear correlation. Ever since the launch of Coca-Cola Zero in 2006 the drink has been aimed specifically at men. In this advert there is a  large  group of men walking around asking why life has to have catches. If you watch this advert carefully you spot a few women but it's clear the ratio of men to woman is larger. In the next adverts that follow it becomes more obvious that the product is aimed at men.  They go for an anti-realist, narrative style of a random hero making the impossible possible in an over-exaggerated, mission impossible styled way. These adverts including, a man escaping his girlfriends flat after sleeping with her before her parents break in, a man is late for a date with his girlfriend and is rushing to meet her and another of a man bumping into his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend and trying to convince her he's better off without her. All of these problems are solved after the hero drinks Coca-Cola Zero. I think the best way to make an advert for this is to go in a similar theme to the previous ones. However budget may prove to be a problem so we may have to tone it down compared to the other ones.
